Culture Doll
Our first home project this year is making a “paper doll” about traditional dress from your family’s heritage. This is a mandatory project and will be graded on completion and presentation in class. You will have 3 weeks to research and complete the project. This is a project that you will complete together, however the work should reflect the ability of a first grader.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAMILY’S TRADITIONAL DRESS?
This is a great opportunity to find out what the traditional dress is from your family’s heritage. If you are multicultural family, pick one. You will dress your attached paper doll in traditional clothes. (You may only use the attached paper doll, NO SUBSTITUTIONS!) You may use paper, fabric, or anything that helps complete your doll. You may make a boy or a girl.
Using 3 or more sentences, you will describe orally to the class your cultural doll. (for example: What country is it from? When do people wear it? Any details you want to share.)
Rubric: The attached rubric will be used to grade this project. Again help is encouraged but the majority of the project is to be completed by the student.
