Why do we go?
The Train Project is an ALP project in the first grade engineering curriculum that requires students to help the Mayor of a town called Newville plan a new train line for the town. To solve the problem, student teams build a model of Newville and plan where the train tracks could go in line with criteria they are presented. . It concludes with a culminating event where the student teams present their models and explain the process they followed to guests and the Mayor of Newville. After the students have completed the engineering project we attend the Train Ride in Boulder City.
What do we do?
Ride the rails with your students and experience history dating back to the 1930s when the track was laid by the Union Pacific Railroad to service the Boulder Dam project. The ride is a seven mile round-trip to Railroad Pass and is approximately 40 minutes in duration.
School runs are held on Thursdays and Fridays. Fares are $5/person.
